How We Handle Pests in Kentucky

Louisville’s eastern suburbs, mostly located between the Watterson Expressway (I-264) and the Gene Snyder Freeway (I-265), are home to thriving communities like St. Matthews, Jeffersontown, Middletown, and Norton Commons. Each East End community features some of the city’s top restaurants, plenty of shopping and indoor recreation, and countless outdoor activities.

All of these amazing facts about the East End of Louisville make it a tourist destination – but they also make it a haven for pest pressures. Bed bugs don’t care if your hotel has five stars or not. And even high-end restaurants and bars have what attracts rats, flies, ants, and cockroaches.

Homes in the East End of Louisville have their own pest issues. Termites are a serious issue in Kentucky and the Louisville area is no different. Ants are always an issue in this part of the country, and so are moles. Anyone with a nice, manicured lawn in the Louisville area knows that. Homeowners and business owners in this area of Louisville both need a pest control company that understand the pests in the area, the area itself, and the pest treatments that will get rid of ants, moles, bed bugs, and any other pest that may be bugging you. That’s why they need the largest pest control company based in Kentucky – OPC Pest Services.

OPC pest control has horrible customer service!!! I have called twice, today & yesterday, only to get an answering service regarding a request to have the technician come and spray the exterior again. I was not home at the time so I have no idea if he did a complete and thorough job on the exterior. He sprayed on Friday, June 20th and as of yesterday, July 2nd, my entire kitchen has been invaded by tiny sugar ants!!! They are on the kitchen table and everywhere!!! I paid $169.00 for an ant 🐜 invasion of my kitchen!!! No one has called to follow up!!!! Two requests: return and fix the problem or please refund my money!!! I ended up going to Home Depot buying RAID ant traps. Buyer Beware!!

The technician was on time and very quick. The nest was out of the tree within 20 minutes and he explained every step. If facing another pest problem, they will be the 1st call I make!

I had a preventative ant, spider, bettle, etc. spray service done. Cameron was my technician and he was polite, knowledgeable, and thorough. But overall, I was well pleased with the Service and with Adrienne whom I spoke with on the phone. Now we await the results!

Be very sure to get everything in writing. OPC is very responsive when trying to get you in the door, but with upholding anything else they mentioned is another story.. I had a horrible first experience with OPC. Originally, I called them out as there were tons of webs in my crawlspace. I ended up agreeing for crawlspace work they offered as well. (700$ for extermination, 2200$ for crawlspace work). I am in the midst of selling my home so I explained multiple times that I would not like to do recurring service. I was asked to sign a contract but when I tried to zoom out of the signature section to review the contract, I was told that the other section was not important. I was also told that if I signed up for services but needed to cancel for any reason, they would work with me.. to which I clarified I did not want a recurring service. I felt uneasy about signing something I had not been able to fully review, so I asked for a copy of the contract and was told I would get it that day. Then when I didn’t receive it that day, I followed up, and was told that it had to be approved. This rubbed me the wrong way because I should’ve been able to review the contract before signing. After threatening to utilize the FTC’s Three day cool off period and cancel the contract, I was provided a copy and it indeed had Recurring services on it, which I did not want. I asked for the contract to be revised and it was. This seemed deceptive to me. Then I asked about the service date as that was not established, And what the service would entail. Of course, I have to make sure that I’m available, If access to inside was necessary. I was told that I wouldn’t need to be home. On the day the work was being completed, I stopped by to ensure that I wouldn’t need to be home as well, and again I was told I wouldn’t need to be . I stopped by again afterwards to check the work and my crawlspace Cover was left in the yard. The vapor barrier was sloppily configured. Before I could call to inquire about the work, I received a call From the service manager, stating that since I was not home for them to spray inside that they would have to get scheduled. I was extremely confused by this as I verified with multiple people that I would not have to be home. This was extremely inconvenient, especially as I made an appearance at home while the work was being completed, and this could have easily been done . I explained, As I had to the sales rep, My days off and that I was confused because I was told I would not have to be home. The sales manager stated, even though I had to work, they could be there in the morning and lock the house up after they were completed. I did not feel comfortable with this at all And advised that I would prefer to be home. When The service manager arrived, I expressed some of my concerns and they did apologize that there was a miscommunication. But there are still pending concerns I have. I was told that a part of the crawlspace work would entail leveling out the crawlspace, Which the service manager told me they do not do. I was told That I would receive a phone call prior to my payment method being charged which I did not receive any phone call. I was told that I would receive An invoice detailing all work done with photos, and I did not. I asked the service manager for photos and an invoice and he said that they don’t really do photos but that he could send those over to me. He did not. I emailed requesting this, No response. They were quick to charge my card $2900, but everything else has been disappointing.

We recently purchased new property in Louisville and were familiar with OPC. Dakota our technician was prompt, knowledgeable and professional. This was our first visit so Dakota took the time to explain our annual program and what we needed to do if we ever have pest issues. He thoroughly treated our entire home, both inside and outside. So far very pleased with our service. So surprisingly only 4 days later I found a dozen ants crawling in my dogs food bowl. So Monday I tried 3 times throughout the day to reach them through their primary number and was finally transferred to their answering service after holds of 5-10 minutes. I left a message to call. Lost another star OPC. Returned in early September 2025 to find our window sills ( yes inside) were filled with 1000s of fungus gnats, thankfully dead. Called OPC and they were out the next day and sprayed. Mike our technician was great. If this visit solves the problem, I'll return the 4th star.
