Pencils were sharpened, notebooks were stacked, and 200 backpacks were packed with care for the students across Murray, Kentucky.
Tommy Atkins, Branch Manager, and Jeff Kinsley, Commercial Sales Representative, took time away from their usual work at McGee Pest Control, an OPC Pest Services company, to make a heroic impact on the kids in their community. Because we at OPC know our strength is in our unity, Tommy and Jeff lent a helping hand at a local community business event. Alongside area Realtors and other local businesses, the team worked together to pack backpacks with schools supplies the rest of us may take for granted. Tommy, Jeff, and the rest of the volunteers showed up to bring peace of mind to the students at Murray Elementary, Murray Middle, and Murray High School.
Each backpack was packed with school essentials including binders, notebooks, pencils, pens, pencil cases, and more. By the end of the event and some remarkable teamwork, 200 students will be one step closer to starting the school year, feeling prepared and confident.
For Tommy and Jeff, showing up and being essential together was an easy decision.
“Anytime we can show up and help out in the community, we try to make it,” Tommy said. “McGee Pest Control has been a part of this community since 1958. This is our family, and we take care of each other.”
By working together and giving their time the team helped make a remarkable difference for local students and proved that a little teamwork can go a long way to making a significant and positive impact on our community and its future leaders.
